Paradise Cafe Restaurant Review: Paradise Café has been going strong for over three decades, which indicates its reliability and popularity. The vibe is vintage Santa Barbara: laid back and unpretentious, with outdoor seating under the umbrella tables and behind a green hedge. The interior has warm wood tones, bamboo tables and colorful art, but it can get both cramped and noisy, so be advised. Food is strictly American: chili, notable burgers, the signature black bean soup, seafood, and Prime steaks grilled over Santa Maria live oak, not to mention an orange juice waffle. Fresh fish is well prepared --- salmon on the grill; local halibut pan-broiled with lemon, butter and white wine; swordfish kebabs --- and served in a simple presentation. The indoor lower level was transformed into one of the town's most happening bars for the young crowd.
