| Chef Benjamin Moore is at the helm of this internationally eclectic menu based on fare from the planet's 33rd parallel (hint: Morocco, Lebanon, China, India, Japan and, of course, San Diego). A few daily specials round out favorites such as chicken pot stickers with accents of ginger and lemon grass; curry calamari with Asian slaw and mint-mango chutney; and ahi poke, a trio of raw tuna, Asian pear and mango stacks with wasabi dressing. As an appetizer or lunch main course, we recommend the duck confit salad with jÃcama, grapefruit and soy sauce vinaigrette. Entrées include the rich Goan shrimp curry with coconut basmati rice and fried shallots; pan-seared scallops with red kuri squash; and roasted chermoula chicken with couscous. The small dining room is ideal for a night of romance or serious conversation; the young, hip crowd tends to eat next door at the über-trendy Blue Lotus lounge (an expansion of Parallel 33), where one can enjoy the same food while grooving to the melodic tunes of local DJs. |
