Park Ave. Restaurant Review: Fortunately for some and unfortunately for others, this eclectic bistro is located in Stanton. But don’t let the drive keep you from making this place a regular destination in your fine dining repertoire. Chef-partner David Slay created the interior of this Googie-inspired building; it looks like a post-modern museum of cosmo-intelligence and down-home comfort. Slay’s dishes all seem to have an American component, whether it's corn fritters, Granny Smith apples, New England maple ham or Vermont cheddar. Start with an old-fashioned cocktail, a craft beer or a glass of wine from the well-chosen list featuring mostly California vintners. Appetizers include a lobster fritter and tenderloin bites, while Slay’s entrée menu spotlights wild game, seafood, and steaks and chops, many of which feature ingredients plucked from the restaurant's on-site garden. We recommend the sweet and savory apple-stuffed pork chop or the tender bone-in rib-eye steak. Chef Slay hosts winemaker dining events and Sunday night chicken dinners.
