Parlor Steakhouse Restaurant Review:

This Upper East Side steakhouse sleeks down the traditional clubby ambience for the meat and martini crowd and replaces it with a cream and brown minimalist setting. Chef Lucas Billheimer, trained at Lure Fishbar, offers steak, seafood and side dishes in the manner expected of a fine steakhouse. We suggest ordering the filet mignon, cooked nicely, with a decent char on the outside and tender and pink inside, in contrast to the marinated hanger steak which can be on the tough side. Both come with roasted cloves of garlic, appealing by themselves or in concert with one of the first-rate sauce choices---try the béarnaise or horseradish. Seafood options like the scallop appetizer were less successful, and the lobster roll lacked the texture and flavor of its Maine origins. Wines span the globe with reds from California to New Zealand and whites heavily West Coast. The gazpacho with watermelon and tiger shrimp appetizer and the flourless chocolate cake are standouts.
