THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pasita Restaurant Review:
Named for the fruit-infused rum and liquor business the owner’s father started after fleeing France for Venezuela in the 1940s, this West Village wine bar serves up Italian and Venezuelan bites in a narrow but cozy exposed brick room. The thin-crust pizzas, which come with shredded chicken, pesto, spiced beef or organic veggies, among other selections, are done just right: the crust is cracker crunchy. Be sure to try the tequenos (cheese puffs dusted with cumin and red pepper), the arepitas (corn fritters with guasacaca and nata cheese), or the yuca fries with creamy avocado dipping sauce. And the tostones, fried green plantains with a zesty cilantro-green pepper salsa, are fine accompaniments to a nice list of Chilean and Argentine wines (by the bottle and the glass).
