Every neighborhood should have a place like Pastiche. With its lovely Southwestern-influenced décor, an eclectic menu and a well-balanced and reasonably priced wine list, it's both sophisticated and homey. Our favorite starter is the fried avocado, crusted with panko and served with a chipotle-laced aïoli, meant for dipping. Pastas range from a spicy rendition with chicken, andouille sausage and shrimp in a Creole sauce, to a kicked up mac ‘n’ cheese with three cheeses, mesquite-smoked bacon and spinach. Of course, you won’t go wrong with the Pastiche burger. A tip to those with lighter appetites: many of the entrées can be served in smaller---or as they call them here, bistro---portions. A late-night menu is a mini-version of the dinner menu. There's a wine roster, but you may want to saunter over to the attached wine store where you can find plenty of unique worldly wines.
