Patacon Pisa'o Restaurant Review:
Different ownership resulted in this outpost of Colombian cooking getting a bit of a lift. The attractively presented, authentic fare always includes arepas, a puffy corn cake served with cheese or other protein-based embellishment. Get the bandeja, which comes in two sizes and is enough to share. Topping white rice is a slice of avocado, fried plantain, fried egg, well-flavored beans, a thin grilled steak that's full of flavor if not exactly the most tender morsel, and chicharrón --- a slice of pork skin with some attached meat cooked to the crisp stage. The larger of the two sizes adds a length of grilled Colombian-style chorizo and arepas. Have the flan for dessert. The coffee is decent; fruit drinks are made from freshly squeezed exotic fruits, such as lulo.
