| Better get here early or risk empty shelves. This little bakery off Pacific Grove’s main drag carries a wonderful selection of baked goods that go fast. The breads (baguettes, kalamata olive twists, nine-grain loaves) and pastries (cheese danishes, chocolate croissants, berry scones) are all satisfying. Above all, the croissants shine, balancing the essential elements: golden, flaky, delicate and buttery. If you time your visit right, you might be rewarded with a specimen right from the oven. Lunchtime sandwich options are also worth a try. The gem-like chocolate chunk cookies tend to sell out in the afternoon. Good prices make up for the sometimes lackluster service. |
