Pavel's Backerei Restaurant Review:
Get here early or risk empty shelves. This little bakery off Pacific Grove’s main drag carries a selection of baked goods that goes fast. Breads (baguettes, kalamata olive twists, nine-grain loaves) and pastries (cheese danishes, chocolate croissants, berry scones) are all satisfying. Above all, the croissants shine, balancing the essential elements: golden, flaky, delicate and buttery. If you time your visit right, you might be rewarded with a specimen right from the oven. Lunchtime sandwiches are also worth a try and portions are reasonable. The crusty bread sets off fresh ingredients in simple but tasty combinations. Gem-like chocolate chunk cookies tend to sell out in the afternoon. Good prices make up for the sometimes lackluster service.
