THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pearl Ocean Restaurant Review:
Situated on the second level of Lucky Dragon Hotel & Casino, Pearl Ocean is a dim sum-centric restaurant offering a menu that features traditional and modern Chinese cuisine. The space is accented with huge seashells on the walls, Asian chandeliers, plush booths and banquettes, a teal blue color motif and a wall mural with Asian symbols depicting positive words such as love, relax and freshness. While not necessarily part of the décor, be sure not to miss the tank filled with exotic, live crustaceans and fish flown in daily, which can be selected to be prepared in the aforementioned culinary styles. The signature item on the expansive dim sum menu is the Five Guy Xiao Long Bao sampler: pork soup dumplings wrapping flavors of spinach, squid ink, black truffle, beet and crab. We also like the shrimp dumplings served with a spicy XO sauce. From the Small Eat menu you’ll find stewed chicken claws with abalone sauce or black fungus with black vinegar. First-rate entrée choices are the smoked sea bass and the rib-eye steak cubes in wined wasabi aïoli. Complementing the fare are unique cocktails; the refreshing lemonade-like Pok Pok is made with Botanist Islay Gin, Canton Ginger Liqueur, lemon and Pok Pok Som Chinese celery vinegar. On the wine list are 18 red and white wines, ports and sherries served by the glass; four by the half bottle; and 37 bottles from Italy, France, Australia, Germany, California and Oregon. Save room for the mango pudding or double boiled mountain lotus seed with peach resin.
