THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Peccavi Restaurant Review:

Peccavi means I have sinned in Italian, which is what chef Joseph Savino?s mother would exclaim when she ate something that was so delicious as to induce a bout of Catholic guilt. Though using Mama Savino?s words as a restaurant name may be dubious, the idea is that all of the food served at Peccavi is scrumptious enough to make diners feel unworthy. The Mediterranean food is certainly good, though we?re not running off to confession after dinner. Appetizers like arugula and roasted red peppers with Parmigiano or steamed mussels with coriander and white wine are pure and well prepared. Pastas are enticing, flecked with ingredients such as braised rabbit or spicy tomato sauce with seafood. Entrées are presented with flourish: lamb comes with stripes of chunky pesto; and seabass is served in a pretty tagine. The rustic spot was once home to the popular La Colombe d?Or and the dining room has retained its unpretentious charm. Also a bonus (though certainly not for Savino): The space is rarely full. This makes it utterly relaxing, if not utterly sinful.
