Jessica Pintard is best known for Carpinteria’s Cork Tree Cellars Wine Bar & Bistro. Given that success she launched a sandwich shop adjacent to the nation’s biggest sandwich mega-chain. Unlike Subway, Peebee & Jay’s actually sells peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as well as peanut butter with banana, honey, bacon, mayo and fresh greens. There’s also sliced turkey breast with warm Brie and date jam, a roast beef sandwich with Granny Smith apples, and a build-your-own option. Fresh-made soups and crisp salads round out the menu. There are a few vegetarian options as well and soup and sandwich combos, even half sandwiches. Online ordering is encouraged since the lunch rush comes hard and fast.
