| Pele’s Garden is a health food store and its sibling is Pele’s Other Garden, a deli-pizzeria-juice bar, which may be the best place for an inexpensive meal on Lanai. Although the menu is predominantly vegetarian, there are sandwiches and other delights made from range-grown turkey, in multiple flavors, including honey-roasted and peppered. Our favorite is the dolma, grape leaves stuffed with turkey and spices. You can get lunch for two, including fresh carrot or beet juice, for around $14. Pele’s Other Garden also will be glad to make you killer picnic baskets for a day on the trail or at the beach and for much less than the hotels charge. |
