Perla cafe Restaurant Review:

Perla was always Gabe Stulman's outlier of a restaurant. Located in Greenwich Village, it laid a quarter of a mile from the other establishments in his collection, which you could throw a meatball at and hit each one of them. All that changed in early 2016 when he moved Perla to the improbable West Village intersection of W. 4th and W. 10th Streets, in a somewhat cursed space that has seen about five different restaurants in the last decade. Perla cafe will likely stick around for a while. The 50-or-so-seat eatery is smaller than its last incarnation and it definitely feels intimate, with a bar upfront taking up a lot of area. The menu remains straight-up Italian with some very good pasta dishes, including spaghetti all' amatriciana and hearty lamb ragù pappardelle. Choose from a handful of wines by the glass, some from Austria and Hungary, and a large craft beer selection.
