| Perry's has the dark, clubby feel of a he-man steakhouse and bills itself as a classic Dallas dinner house, but you won't see any big hair or cowboy hats at the bar. Beef is the star here, though sides and seafood are also given the star treatment. Even the jarred olives on the table are house-cured. Start with the tangy chopped tuna tartare with avocado and wasabi cream sauce. The house favorite for many is the Southern-fried rib-eye, an over-the-top slab of meat dunked in batter, deep-fried and then slathered with a wicked cream gravy. Lamb chops are nice little babies with a rosemary demi-glace. All the beef is Prime and the servers make sure you're happy with the way it's cooked before leaving the table. Our favorites among shareable sides include creamed spinach that's more like a soufflé, and macaroni and cheese with bacon. An order of Texas-size, crispy-crunchy onion rings is a must. Crispy lobster is a classic choice---tempura battered, topped with fresh asparagus and served with a tarragon béarnaise. Ask for one of the high-backed booths for a practically private dining experience. |
