The oyster bar is a perennially good starting point at Pesca, your choice bolstered by a classic Sancerre or an upstart silver tequila. Menu appetizers in this pleasant dining room at River Walk level emphasize seafood such as caramelized scallops, but also include smoked duck and spinach salad and wild mushroom and Gruyère stew. We always inquire about the fresh market fish, as sources have typically been first-rate. We are also fond of the black cod, now served with a yellow curry velouté. Pescatorians with a yen to spend will tack toward whole lobster stuffed with Dungeness crab. Pescaphobes can retreat to Prime tenderloin or New York strip. Service sometimes merits criticism, though we have never experienced serious flaws.
