Pescatore Restaurant Review: Colorful tile covers the outside of this neighborhood fish spot, which offers great value for well turned-out dishes. That's why Pescatore, a casual restaurant with two separate dining rooms, is always packed. We prefer the smaller eating space with peach walls and matching tiled floors. During warm weather you can dine outside on a balcony overlooking the hustle and noisy bustle of Second Avenue. Begin with the seafood purse: dreamy-tasting seafood (which varies) wrapped in a beautifully presented phyllo dough purse and surrounded by a creamy lobster sauce. If you want a little drama at your table, go for the whole fish, which will be de-boned at your table---we like the grilled salmon and the grilled bronzino. Pescatore makes its own excellent pastas, including fettuccine with lobster, leeks, fresh tomato and basil in a brandy cream sauce; and linguine nere, a black linguine with shrimp. For dessert, order the silky sorbets---peach, tangerine, coconut and pineapple---presented in their natural shells.
