Petra Restaurant Review:

Fine wines and a Mediterranean-influenced tapas menu create a unique dining experience at Petra in the Village at Northstar. Surrounded by the slopes of Northstar California, Petra is often filled with patrons fresh from powder runs in the winter or dusty downhill mountain bike rides in the summer. Diners can enjoy wines by the glass or choose a flight paired with small plates. Traditional wine bar fare includes the cheese or charcuterie selections, but the more interesting items come from the tapas menu, such as the mezze platter featuring red pepper hummus, minted pea purée and marinated feta; risotto cakes with Fontina and sautéed crimini mushrooms; spanakopita; or cumin meatballs featuring a duo of lamb and pork with caramelized onions and fennel. Panini combinations are meals in themselves, including one stuffed with honey-roasted fig, creamy chèvre and crushed almonds. Knowledgeable staff will offer pairing suggestions for any dish, or choose your own from the ever-changing international wine list that features many small California producers.
