Philz Coffee Restaurant Review: Philz Coffee has several locations in the Bay Area, but it all started here on 24th Street in the Mission District where Phil Jaber converted his grocery store into a coffeehouse after receiving rave reviews for his customized coffee blends. Here's how it works: a large blackboard displays the dozen-plus coffee options. When it's your turn for face time with an attendant, tell them what you like (strong, dark, decaf, etc.) and how you like it (black, or doctored with milk or sugar). Relax for a few minutes and behold: a cup of coffee made just for you, good for sipping and watching the Mission scene roll by. Philz's beans are also available for purchase by the pound. Plus, there’s free WiFi. |
