| It doesn't matter if you swing through the doors at 9 a.m., when Pho 95 opens for business, or 9 p.m., when it closes: the tables and booths are always occupied by pho-natical crowds slurping beautifully seasoned, deeply savory, steaming bowls of broth brimming with brisket, or tripe, filet mignon, meatballs or tendon---or a combination thereof. The thicket of requisite accompaniments---lime wedges, mung sprouts, fresh basil that glistens, sawtooth and rings of jalapeños---arrive heaped on a platter, everything as fresh as morning dew. Aaron Le, the joint's owner and floorman extraordinaire, buzzes around the lively dining room, stopping at each table to extend a handshake, slap on the back or hug. It's a convivial community at Pho 95, where strangers become friends and first-timers become regulars. If you're not a pho fan, the menu also struts topnotch Vietnamese noodle bowls, spring rolls and egg rolls. |
