Its official name is Pho Xe Tang, but everyone knows this Vietnamese restaurant as Tank. There are 250-plus items on the menu at this casual spot, where you shouldn’t be surprised if your party of two is seated with others at one of the round tables of six. We always find ourselves sticking with the flavorful pho or Vietnamese noodles in beef broth, served with bean sprouts, fresh basil, cilantro, jalapeños and lime wedges. Keep it simple with No. 47 (sliced beef) or get adventurous with No. 39 (sliced beef, brisket, flank, soft tendon, tripe and meatballs). If soup isn’t your thing, Tank also offers an extensive selection of rice dishes, noodles and tableside hot pots. Portions are generous---and very reasonably priced---but we always like to start with banh xeo, crispy pancakes with shrimp, pork and mung beans. Wash it down with one of the fresh fruit smoothies (bubble teas) or take advantage of the BYOB policy.
