Lake Ridge Restaurant Review:

Nestled between the interstate that runs from NYC to Canada and a U.S. highway, the old religious camp that became the town of Round Lake is a hidden gem between Albany and Saratoga Springs. Lake Ridge, the one fine dining establishment in the village, is an often-overlooked jewel as well. The fare is primarily continental but with many updated twists. Try the Bostonian Shrimp Dooley, shrimp wrapped in bacon and served with maple-Dijon-horseradish sauce as a starter, or if you can’t decide you can always go for the Salad Ménage a Trios---a trio of petite salads served together that includes toasted pecan and Thai chili slaw, goat cheese-stuffed roasted beets and fresh mozzarella tossed with plum tomatoes and kalamata olives. Entrée choices include the Veal Jenny, sautéed medallions with cipollini onions, prosciutto and crimini mushrooms in a Marsala sauce, and standards such as seared duck breast, steak au poivre and surf ‘n’ turf combos. Finish with one of the restaurant’s house-made desserts. Wine offerings include a substantial list of affordably priced bottles. The four dining rooms, some with fireplaces, are spacious and comfortable.
