Scion Restaurant Review:

Whether the owner was contemplating cars or a family heir, the name is unusual enough to pique your interest. What’s up here? Situated in one of Dupont Circle’s riskiest locations---restaurants have come and gone here for no apparent reason---Scion hopes to break the mold. For one, the eclectic menu touches on all the favorites, from well-prepared spring rolls, crispy and oil-free, to other pan-Asian treats to an unexpected sandwich that’s a takeoff on a NYC deli favorite, a lobster Reuben, with sauerkraut and all. Perhaps the best reason to dine here is the nighttime buffalo osso buco, a triumph of heft over diets: a 12-ounce bone-in shank comes served over slow-roasted vegetables. For a more Asian inspiration, think of the garlic soy shrimp and scallops on rice noodles. The dessert menu is skimpy, and of the four choices, you may be happiest with the chocolate mousse martini.
