Trattoria Roma Restaurant Review:

Your first look at Trattoria Roma---tucked into a strip shopping center that's seen better days---suggests this is an average, friendly neighborhood red-sauce eatery. But inside, it's a different story. The modest dining room is spruced up with white tablecloths, the décor is uncluttered, and there's a tiny bar off to the side. House-made, filled pastas are a signature. We recommend the linguine alla pescatore with shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels and calamari in a light tomato-herb sauce. Another pasta worth your time is the vitello Trattoria Roma, which entails rotolo di formaggio (rolled pasta layered with cheeses and spinach) baked over veal in a sweet-sour roasted pepper sauce with spaghetti and warm red pepper coulis. From an array of meat dishes, try either of the osso bucos, or go for the veal with porcini mushrooms. The wine list is more extensive than one would expect and is devoted almost entirely to Italian wines. It shows plenty of depth and features several rare bottles.
