Tree Restaurant Review:

Andrew Robinson and Colm Clancy (hailing from Gramercy Tavern and Lucien, respectively) own this French bistro with a relaxed, wholly unpretentious vibe in the East Village. Tables are reasonably spaced and the atmosphere is cozy instead of stuffy. Bottles of wine line the walls near the bar almost all the way to the top of the stamped-tin ceiling, and the flattering lighting and tile floor keep things simple and chic. That minimalism is extended to the menu that offers exclusively French classics. Seafood linguine features clams, mussels and creamy saffron sauce. In addition to the moist roast chicken, consider the "Tree Burger" as well as many fish dishes, like the roast salmon with vegetable tian and scampi sauce. Appetizers include a selection of soups, salads and cheese boards. Expect a fine selection of affordable French wines.
