Zampa Restaurant Review:

Many New Yorkers know this Meatpacking District wine bar and restaurant as the place that has the diagram of the pig in the window. But it’s much more than that. Sleek and civilized, Zampa’s main room is long and narrow, highlighted by a cozy banquette. The wine list isn't long, and mostly sticks to Italian varieties, including a few fairly priced Super Venetos and Barolos (many of which are available by the glass). The menu, not surprisingly, doesn’t veer far from Italy either. There are scores of cheese and antipasti plates that nicely complement just about any wine on the list. More substantial entrées include roast loin of organic pork with cannellini beans, rapini and scallions; oven-poached organic salmon with salsa verde and organic Italian lentils; and lasagna bolognese: homemade pasta, meat and porcini mushroom sauce, béchamel and Parmigiano. It’s simple Italian fare, but not a far stretch from the straightforward dishes found in the Old Country.
