Each Piatti has a slightly different design and its own chef, so the menu can vary from place to place, but not by too much. Thousand Oaks has a nice cozy feel, with a fireplace inside and comfortable patio outside. Pizzas come out of a stone oven with a crispy, blistered crust. On the appetizer list, carpaccio is made from naturally raised beef from Niman Ranch. A crispy fried artichoke comes with fonduta and lemon oil. The cheese list includes Gorgonzola dolce, the milder, sweeter version of Gorgonzola. Pastas include what you might find at any trattoria: bolognese over penne, tagliatelle with mushrooms and cream, butternut squash tortelli. But there are also fun choices like gnocchi with pancetta, sage and acorn squash. Beyond pasta, you’ll find seasonal preparations of fish, veal, short ribs and steak. For dessert, there's tiramisu, affogato, granita and more. The wine list offers a good range of reds and whites from Italy and California.
