Piccolo Café Restaurant Review:
This cozy Upper West Side spot is part café and part Italian trattoria. Walls, stools, and the few closely spaced tables are crafted with reclaimed wood. Freshly made sandwiches are hearty; one option is rye bread stuffed with tuna salad with mozzarella. Who would have thought that a fluffy organic Parmigiano Reggiano omelet could be so ethereal? Also on offer are salads, soups, panini, pasta and a selection of mains, including grilled Portuguese octopus, scallops and artichokes, grilled chicken with polenta, and classic lasagna (Bolognese and vegetarian). A few wines are available. Prices are reasonable. Service is friendly and efficient.
