Attention Jimmy Buffett fans: the Pickled Parrot is your Margaritaville. Whenever the songwriter/author/Tequila spokesperson comes to town, the Pickled Parrot shelters Parrotheads far and wide, providing free-flowing margaritas and tender, Caribbean-spiced ribs. Inside this downtown restaurant the vibe is loose and light, perhaps prompted by the garish decor, which seems to fashioned from a single, mammoth Hawaiian shirt. For food, aside from the expertly grilled fish and award-winning barbecue we appreciate the Pickled Parrot for importing stone crabs from none other than Joe's Stone Crabs of Miami Beach. Every January and February, the faithful line up outside to get a crack at these sweet, tender crustaceans, each served with a broiled tomato, sautéed potatoes and tangy slaw. For those who want to beat the rush any time of year, keep your eye on the schedule at the nearby Target Center. A basketball game or a hot concert can make getting into the Parrot a chore.
