| Chef Nancy Longo's sunny yellow Fells Point bistro burst onto the scene in 1989, updating regional standards with Mediterranean-Asian twists. The local scene has since caught up. Pierpoint now has stalwart rather than revolutionary status. But there is, as ever, much to enjoy at this restaurant. Signature dishes, like her smoked crab cakes with Brussels sprouts slaw, earthy homemade rabbit sausage, eggplant layer cake with roasted garlic and fresh tomato sauce, and Maryland-style cioppino make for a fine meal. And we do like her Moroccan lamb chops with peach chutney and cilantro-yogurt sauce over saffron mashed potatoes. This is not to say that Pierpoint never changes it up, though: foodies and budget-watchers are enthusiastic over Longo’s Monday Ingredient Night, which gives customers a chance to choose from a list of the evening’s ingredients, and receive a specially created entrée for a mere $10. The chef also offers cooking classes for children, teens and adults. |
