Pig and Khao, New YOrk, NY

Pig and Khao Restaurant Review

: Chef Leah Cohen, a “Top Chef” alum, and the Fatty Crew (who own Fatty Crab) have teamed up on the Lower East Side to bring this Southeast Asian eatery. As the name suggests, pork gets prominent placement on a menu dominated by small plates (with a few larger ones thrown in for good measure). Khao soi, a red curry coconut soup bobbing with chicken, mustard greens and cilantro, packs a flavorful punch, as do the grilled lamb ribs, which are laden with curry. Adventurous eaters shouldn’t shy away from the tasty sisig, a bowl full of pork head, liver and chili peppers, all centered around a poached egg. The wine- and beer-based cocktail list is creative; however, opt for the beer-and-sangrita michelada rimmed with Thai chili salt.
