Ping Pong Restaurant Review:
The Marlborough Street venue was the first of the chain of Ping Pongs. They’re great fun and attract the young with no significant knowledge of Chinese food but who do know a good concept when they see one. The décor is striking with huge Chinese wood carvings and stools around a curved counter. Dim sum ranges from steamed prawns and chives in green chive pastry to baked barbecue chicken with pineapple---not your usual dim sum Chinatown-style. There are soups, sticky rice, vegetables and desserts as well. It’s not bad, but you can get much better in Chinatown, not that the clientele worries about that. The cocktail list is the thing to go for; otherwise jasmine tea comes in a tall glass, the flower unfolding slowly. Service is good except when they are very busy. Set meals £9.99-£14.99.
