Dining room at Ping, Portland, ORIn this light and bright corner spot in the heart of Portland’s rough-edged Chinatown, explore a variety of unusual Asian street food. You’ll find a wide array of proteins on sticks: gulf prawn, baby octopus, boar, shishito chili, or quail eggs wrapped in bacon. Complement the meal with one of the noodle bowls, such as the spicy mama ramen with “bouncy” pork and prawns; a tender steamed pork bun; a fresh, tart salad; or a fried Singapore-style radish cake stir-fried with eggs. Top everything off with an exotic cocktail or two, and you’ll have a memorable and entertaining culinary experience. This snack-style food makes for good sampling during happy hour on weekday afternoons and late evenings.
