Pioneer Restaurant Review

: Pioneer may sound rustic, but it is anything but. From its dark wood and polished servers to its bold dishes, this place is definitely hip. Pork rillette on bread from local bakery Amelia's sets the tone for what’s to follow. For starters, try the German potato cakes with bacon jam or the fermented beets, baby parsnips and citrus pasta chips. Pasta dishes vary from lamb ragoût gnocchi to black pepper spätzle with spinach. Braised lentils and sweet potato purée accompany locally sourced pork chops. The house-made-sausage plate includes savoy cabbage and beer-braised apples. Top off this fun dining experience with apple strudel with caramel sauce, and to enhance it, add a local draft beer, excellent house cocktail or a fine Italian wine. When the weather is warm, enjoy lunch and dinner on the beer garden patio, where bands entertain on some weekend nights.
