THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Piranha Restaurant Review:
It may be somewhat hidden in the shadow of Arigato, but this restaurant is no small fish in the Santa Barbara sushi pond. Indeed, we believe it may be destined for greatness. Local sushi connoisseurs rave about it, and when we visited, we too were impressed by Piranhas artistic specialty rolls and unusual nigiri sushi offerings. We liked the seaweed wrapped, flash-fried house roll (spicy tuna, crab, asparagus, avocado and broccoli). It was just the right combination of crunchy and crisp, though sadly, flash-frying rendered it rather less healthy than other rolls on the menu. Several cooked specialties are on offer, but people tend to stick with the specialty rolls, even as they complain about exorbitant menu prices. Interestingly, dessert seems de rigueur at Piranha. Green tea ice cream in a crunchy cookie bowl is a particular favorite.
