A cozy bungalow that serves steaks, chops, pastas and seafood in a homey setting with friendly owners. Prices, however, are high for a casual neighborhood eatery.

A cozy little bungalow restaurant staffed almost exclusively by the solicitous husband-and-wife owners, The Place for Steak is an enigma. On the one hand, it's the kind of charming neighborhood place---candlelit linen-clad tables, lace curtains, soothing soundtrack---which you're tempted to drop into, spur of the moment, after a long day at work. However, with prices closer to Ruth's Chris than Stuart Anderson's, it can't really serve that purpose. The menu offers a full array of reasonably good steaks, not to mention beef Wellington, rack of lamb, pastas, grilled salmon with lemon-caper-butter sauce, and shrimp scampi. We just wish the prices were more neighborly.
