More an upscale Irish restaurant than an Irish pub, this is one of the busiest scenes in Old City. The guys belly up to the Guinness on draft at the bar, and patrons gather in front of the fireplace for conversation---if you can make yourself heard above the din. This is part of the old Corn Exchange bank building, so it retains the bank's wonderfully vast ceilings and rococo carvings, now with plenty of Irish art to set the tone. Enjoy Irish smoked salmon with home-baked wheaten bread or mussels cooked in cream and herbs. Whether it's duck breast with a caramelized pear sauce or a rack of lamb, you'll be happy. Round off with champ, a traditional mix of mashed potatoes and scallions, or a rasher of imported Irish bacon. The chocolate truffle cake or apple tart is good for dessert but the Irish coffee is even better.
