The Plough & the Stars Restaurant Review

: The Guinness on draft, hefty whiskey list and live music are reason enough to head to this friendly Irish pub in the old Corn Exchange building, with its vast ceilings and rococo carvings. Start with a crab cake with chile aïoli or mussels cooked in sherry and herbs, then tap into the Old Sod with traditional fish ‘n’ chips or beef stew with Guinness sauce. Whether it's simply braised chicken or sesame tuna loin, you'll be happy. Round off the meal with champ, a traditional mix of mashed potatoes and scallions, or a rasher of imported Irish bacon. The chocolate truffle cake or apple tart is fine for dessert, but the Irish coffee is even better. Ask about the $35 and $45 prix-fixe menus. Note that the entrance is on 2nd Street.
