Plum Tree Japanese Restaurant Restaurant Review: Plum Tree, with ample outdoor seating and a large indoor dining room, has a lighthearted charm. In an otherwise spare setting, somewhat kitschy red lanterns hang from the white-tiled ceiling, and the windows surrounded in brick-red faintly recall a traditional Japanese country home. Try the house special tuna loti, seared spicy tuna wrapped in a pancake. The sushi menu includes the standard selection of rolls using fresh ingredients and simple but meticulous preparation. Entrées include a sautéed crispy soft shelled crab that has all the crunch but none of the greasiness that you sometimes get elsewhere. Desserts like the fire snowballs --- green tea, ginger or cookie dough ice cream, set aflame --- or the banana tempura with ginger ice cream make a satisfying end to the meal. A limited wine list with reds and whites by the glass or bottle pair well with the fish and seafood centered menu.
