The Pollo Campero chain is best known for its signature fried and grilled chicken and yuca fries. Hands down, the grilled bird is best, with a lime and orange juice marinade that flavors the meat (good wrapped in a warm corn tortilla and topped with the fresh cilantro and onion on the toppings bar). Pair the chicken with black beans and rice, sweet plantains, those crispy yuca fries or french fries for a filling and inexpensive meal. But the Downtown Disney Marketplace restaurant adds a healthful dimension to the classic PC creations with the first-ever Fresh A-Peel menu for those who prefer a wrap or generous salad, from a chicken Caesar to grilled skirt steak. There’s also a fresh-fruit smoothie bar with Latin drinks. Owner Levy Restaurants teamed up with BabyCakes NYC to create a mini-bakery in the spacious restaurant, offering sweets that are gluten-, egg- and soy-free---we recommend the vegan donut dipped in dark chocolate.
