| Are we in high-fashion Italy? The sophisticated photomural of a Neapolitan street scene that spans an entire wall sure makes it feel like it. Set against contemporary opera music on the sound system, the Italian staff practically purrs “ciao” as we leave at the end of the evening. But before that, we bite into the pizza, and we’re purely transported, thanks to the certified “pizzaiolo” (pizza chef) from Italy, certified by the Verace Pizza Napoletana, whose pizzas benefit from the intense heat of an imported wood-burning oven. The crisp-crusted pies come paved with tomato sauce or served white, and scattered with an enormous variety of uncommon, high-quality toppings ranging from charcuterie to garden-fresh vegetables. There are appetizer nibbles, too, like buttery bresaola (air-dried beef), alongside hearty calzones that could feed an army, plus lavish desserts like lava cake and silky panna cotta. Kids are welcome, but it’s definitely an adult mood, down to the expansive 100 percent Italian wine list. |
