THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Poppies Bistro Cafe Restaurant Review:

Located in an 1886 Victorian House on the edge of town, Poppies looks like the ski town restaurant of your dreams. The endearingly romantic restaurant, perfect for a marriage proposal, rambles through a series of small creaky rooms and the bar is miniscule. The décor includes lovely paintings, antiques and lace curtains. The sophisticated crowd is a mix of all ages. We like the Caesar salad; the lobster relleno, an Anaheim pepper stuffed with Maine lobster, goat and jack cheeses, cilantro and roasted red pepper, batter-fried and served with tomato salsa; and pancake of quail, summer corn and red bell pepper. Some of the best entrées include sautéed MacFarlane pheasant breast with balsamic cream, cranberry mushrooms and vegetables, wrapped in phyllo dough; and cannelloni stuffed with roasted Canadian caribou, spinach and mushrooms with a sun-dried blueberry demi-glace. Poppie’s also has a first-rate steak au poivre, and the wine list is a sophisticated selection of California and French labels.
