Hand-painted tiles in soft blue and burnt orange are offset by large ironwork decorations, huge hanging lanterns, and intricately framed mirrors in this bustling restaurant. Large windows and soft lighting enhance the room. Owned by James Weimann and Deming Maclise, the team behind Ballard hotspot Bastille, Poquitos serves authentic Mexican cuisine prepared with local ingredients. Sit in the main room and enjoy views of the open kitchen, where tortillas are hand rolled and pressed from fresh masa. Or take advantage of the year-round patio, always open due to its radiant-heated benches and floor. The limited lunch menu features one of the restaurant's best dishes---a pork carnitas sandwich drowned in a guajillo red sauce. Other favorites include chipotle prawns and the brisket tacos topped with onion, cilantro and salsa roja. The tequila selection is vast but drinks are poured on the weaker side. For dessert, try the refreshing pineapple popsicles.
