| One of the more charming spots in the neighborhood, this restaurant was founded by brother chefs Javier and Toribio Prado (Cha Cha Cha is also in the family). It's the kind of cozy place you might come across on a side street in New Orleans, with candlelit linen-clad tables, pastel walls and a ceiling adorned with cherubs floating amongst the clouds. The menu reflects healthy doses of Louisiana and the Caribbean, with some Latin American items thrown in too. Consider the Jamaican tamales (made with freshly ground corn) topped with tomatillo sauce and a dollop of golden caviar, hearty corn chowder with a kick, Louisiana crab cakes, spicy jumbo shrimp in black pepper sauce, and salmon in a pleasant lemon-caper sauce. For dessert, go for the raspberry red velvet cake or a tarte Tatin so well executed it would do any bistro proud. |
