We’ll start by saying this place is big---really big. And ambitious. Taking a “green” approach---including a stylish interior carved from recycled materials---the menu aims high as well. The focus, really, is on organic fare, and it’s served three meals daily. To those acclimated with more sophisticated eats, the menu may seem pedestrian. Still, we liked the hand-plucked forest mushroom bruschetta swathed in Parmesan sauce, tender braised short ribs with cauliflower-cheddar gratin, and Thai green curry pork loin with brown rice. While we didn’t love everything, and we certainly don’t feel it ever went out on a limb, given its play-it-safe clientele we kind of understand. Cocktails, unfortunately, are hit or miss. Smoothies, fresh-squeezed juices and agave-sweetened sodas are offered, too. There is another location at 51 S. First St., St. Charles, 630-908-5200.
