This location in the Rodeo Collection has seen a few restaurants, but never of this stature. New owner-restaurateur Joey Allaham---who also has a Prime Grill in New York----has completely redone the place to the extent that if you have been there before you will not recognize it. It starts with the grand spiral staircase that has been installed to lead the way down to the action revealed at the street level by the music. A lounge, with an outdoor section boasting a soothing water basin, has been installed and is now separated from the dining room by a glass wall. Walk down to the elegant and colorful dining room where you can choose to sit in the main room, in the booths (only four, so be patient if you want one), in the cabana outside draped in cream-colored fabric, or in the private dining rooms. The menu is of an upscale steakhouse with salads, cold and warm appetizers (yellowtail pastrami, mini Wagyu steak sandwiches), a large choice of meaty preparations that includes steaks, chicken, lamb and veal, and side dishes (garlic mashed potatoes, French green beans with sun-dried tomatoes and tofu). But we’ve also enjoyed the sushi menu---crispy rice with spicy tuna or the chef’s signature roll made of seared Wagyu beef. Do not miss the desserts that include a light triple chocolate cake, an apple tart and delicious non-dairy ice cream. All products used are top quality which is a must when you are serving sushi, sashimi and steaks; the vegetables are all organic. It might not sound like it, but The Prime Grill is certified kosher. The selections on the short wine list are strictly “mevushal."
