THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Primitivo Osteria Restaurant Review:
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Unassuming from the outside, Primitivo Osteria invites guests into a bold world of Italian tastes and textures. Slate floors and dramatic red walls create an elegant backdrop for a menu infused with truffle oil, brandy cream, tomatoes and herbs, and Sicilian capers. The name derives from a simple red wine and plays on the rustic country-style cuisine. Homemade pastas, such as mezzaluna ravioli with lobster finished with a brandy-shrimp sauce, complement main courses of monkfish in oak-scented Sicilian Chardonnay with capers and lime, and pork loin stuffed with Gorgonzola in a sour cherry sauce. A selection of dolci completes the experience with panna cotta, tiramisu, homemade cheesecake and gelati. The prix-fixe brunch remains popular with neighborhood regulars, perhaps due as much to the unlimited mimosas as the diverse menu and modest price.
