Public Landing Restaurant Review:
This classic building is a 160-year-plus-old gem with limestone walls and great arching windows. Add to that fine American food and professional service, and you have one of the best restaurants in the southern suburbs. There's much ado about regional cooking --- sautéed crab cakes served Maryland-style, for example --- but we've enjoyed creations like house-made blackened chicken spring rolls, which hardly fall into that category. You might also encounter lobster-stuffed ravioli in Alfredo sauce, citrus-glazed Long Island duckling and free-range chicken breast stuffed with andouille sausage, smoked Gouda and spinach. If it happens to be available, don’t miss the bread pudding with whiskey sauce. A kids’ menu features standards, including bowtie pasta and breaded chicken tenders, and come weekends, a four-ounce prime rib. There’s a pretty courtyard patio, so be sure to ask for a table outside when it’s warm.
