: This cozy craft beer bar and restaurant anchors the Southeast corner of Wicker Park’s famous Six Corners. For people watching, it can’t be beat; a steady stream of commuters perches at high tops and a long bar for local brews and the bragging rights to call chef Paul Kahan’s restaurant their local tavern (the same Kahan behind Big Star and Publican Quality Meats). An approachable, stylish menu takes on pub grub such as spicy, sticky chicken wings with opal basil, burnt chili and yogurt, and pork rinds with white cheddar and vinegar. The juicy pub burger pleases with its standard caramelized onions, American cheese and special sauce. Gussy it up with mushrooms, bacon and/or avocado. A crusty baguette sops up the soup of garlicky mussels, a nice accompaniment to the Robyn or Apex Predator Saisons, both Illinois brews, and a small sampling of the extensive beer, wine and cocktail list. Meat standouts? The Slagel Family Farm pork collar and rustic blood sausage. Warm sticky banoffee pudding, available in banana, pecan or butterscotch, makes for a simple, sweet finale.
