Puffy's Tavern
Italian-accented sandwiches complement the beer and cocktails surprisingly well.
Puffy's Tavern Restaurant Review:
This TriBeCa neighborhood spot is more than just the drinking hole it appears to be from the outside, though you’d be forgiven if you suddenly desired a sudsy mug when walking by. The dark wood bar, pressed-tin ceiling, and wooden tables and chairs are classic New York bar accoutrements. Puffy’s, however, has a long list of Italian-accented sandwiches that make a stop here an edible occasion. Some sandwiches are named for famous and not-so-famous Italians. All have garden- and dairy-fresh ingredients. The Brando is crammed with smoked chicken, provolone, sweet peppers and arugula, while the Fellini stars soppressata, fresh mozzarella and hot peppers. The Gladiatore mixes prosciutto, creamy mozzarella, juicy sweet peppers and olive paste between two pieces of crispy ciabatta.
