THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Puran's La Brea Restaurant Review

: A quiet little storefront boasting organic produce and hormone-free meats, Puran’s manages to perfectly embody the energy of its funky antique-shop--crowded neighborhood. An ornate mirror, most likely purchased from one of the furniture shops down the block, covers one entire wall, making the 24-seat dining room appear twice its actual size. The remaining walls, hand painted with warm sienna, invite shoppers to stop in for a sandwich or ultra-fresh salad. Don’t miss the hot, homemade rolls with tomato basil spread, a perfect accompaniment to the spicy black beans, breaded calamari salad or soup of the day. In addition to a wide variety of pizzas and wraps, the menu offers pasta dishes loaded with vegetables and generous entr es like herb-grilled chicken, sesame-crusted ahi and, in season, a hearty bouillabaisse. Service can be slow, but that’s due in a large part to the attention to detail and effort to serve made-to-order meals. Diners in a rush should call ahead for take-out, a very handy service this health-conscious sandwich shop and grill offers neighborhood businesses.
