A two-story spiral structure of wine bottles holds the spotlight at the bustling downtown location of Purple Café. A huge bar, soaring ceilings, dining zones, an intimate lounge, plus a wine and tapas bar make it the most dramatic of Purple’s four wine bars. The menu offers easy mix-and-match options whether you crave a few nibbles or an elegant four-course dinner. Mini appetizers from the tasting bar range from an acorn squash-hazelnut spread to beef carpaccio with a quail egg. There's also a wide selection of well-considered wine and cheese pairings. Regular menu items are the standard soup, sandwich and salad offerings. Pastas fans will enjoy lobster mac ‘n’ cheese or orecchiette with chili-braised boar. For a larger appetite, consider duck served two ways, or pan-roasted wild Alaskan halibut. Desserts range from morsels such as sea-salt caramels to a hefty duo of ruby port chocolate torte and white chocolate mousse. Pleasant, well-trained servers are happy to answer questions and help you choose the right food and wine pairings.
