Purple Cafe & Wine Bar Restaurant Review: Purple Café’s downtown location features soaring ceilings, multiple dining zones, and an intimate lounge. A two-story spiral structure created from wine bottles holds the spotlight, making this the most dramatic of Purple’s four outposts. The tapas menu offers easy mix-and-match options, whether you crave a few nibbles or an elegant four-course dinner. Mini appetizers from the tasting bar range from a white prawn ceviche to curried lamb empanada. There's also a wide selection of well-considered wine and cheese pairings. Regular menu items are the standard soup, sandwich and salad items. Pasta fans will enjoy the lobster mac ‘n’ cheese, or orecchiette with chili-braised boar. For larger appetites, consider the pork chop with buttermilk fried onions or New York steak with roasted baby Yukon potatoes. Desserts range from sea-salt caramels to pear spiced cake with maple/cream cheese frosting. Pleasant, well-trained servers are happy to answer questions and help you choose correct food and wine pairings. |
